“TEAM RENO” a Mural on the Set of KOLO 8 News
TEAM RENO, Acrylic and Latex Paint, Reno, Nevada, 10’ x 8’ feet
Quiet on the Set…
A little history lesson for you, Reno Nevada, 1953, from a snow capped mountain, airs the first live television broadcast from KZTV, Reno’s First News Station. From weather broadcasts to obscure segments, KZTV would eventually evolve into our modern day KOLO 8 News Now where Together Everyone Achieves More. A full history KOLO 8 is Linked Here.
That’s where my silly painting skills come in. “We have a potential wall for you to paint, and a list of important elements to include that really embody the spirit of Kolo”. Say less. I picked a style somewhat new to me, cleaned out my brushes, and got to drawing.
T.E.A.M, Together Everyone Achieves More, is something I like to think I already live by, especially in a small place like Reno. Some might call bullshit, and some might hate me for it, but in my heart I want what’s best for everyone and to see the underdogs prosper. This mural was not only important for me because of the caliber of the client, but for the many people that will get to see its message. In my rapidly growing city, there’s been in increase in violence, racism, and selfishness, something that I know that Reno is not. Come together or come apart (FOB). My paintings are my voice, how I tell the world how I really feel, RENO I love you and I hope Together we may all prosper and love one another.

Huge thank you to John Fiorelli, Wade, and my Mom for bringing me into this project. I loved learning about the history and the behind the scenes of KOLO 8 News Now and am humbled to be apart of its history.
