A “Ghost Rider” Study SAXONS MC

“Ghost Rider Study”, Spray Paint and Latex Paint, 24’ x 8’ feet. Sparks, Nevada

A David Mann Study

“Ghost Rider” a painting by David Mann, both of which I shamefully was not familiar with when the Saxons Motorcycle Club hit me up to paint a Mural. After checking out their shipping container transformed into bar, I did my research on the late Mann and was stoked to see a style I could relate too. Surrealistic, chopper focused paintings depicting pin up girls and the wide open road, badass, I can work with that.

Pencil to paper, studying the masters that came before me, I came up with the concept you see below. A variation of the “Ghost Rider” using the Saxons Character and of course King Doomed as the ghost leading the way into the sunset.

Not only did the Saxons treat me with immense gratitude, but through conversation I got to learn more about their culture. A culture that is paralleled with that of skateboarding, an art form that I’ve participated in now for almost 20 years. Through the couple weeks of painting and the 20 year anniversary party I was invited to attend, I felt the same brotherhood and respect that skating has brought to my life.

I have A newfound perspective for their culture, specifically the 2%, a group that is identified by building and knowing their rides from bottom to top. A huge thank you for Lloyd for bringing me in, respecting the arts, and teaching me about their world. Till’ The Wheels Fall Off, or Until We Paint again.
